Bunnyfest 2008

 

It's that time of year again! Time to plan for a day of bunny fun at San Diego House Rabbit Society's annual fundraiser - Bunnyfest!

San Diego HRS and fellow Southern California bunny lovers will get together for a day of fun, education, great shopping, exciting bidding on auction items, and the sharing of favorite bunny stories with others who appreciate our special rabbit friends. Get your bunny care and diet questions answered at the HRS Information Booth, and enjoy refreshments at our Cottontail Cafe', all while enjoying a beautiful warm day at Heritage Park.

Bunnyfest Presentations
San Diego HRS is pleased to present the following speakers and demonstrations at this year's Bunnyfest.

Rabbit Agility & Clicker Training:  Welcome back Andrea Bratt Frick and her talented bunnies. They will delight you with their agility and clicker training routines. Raffle Drawings will occur at 2 p.m. (less than $100) and 3 p.m. ($100 or more)

Photo Contest
Come out and vote for your favorite photos in the following categories.

There will be one winner in each category (voting is done by Bunnyfest attendees) with winners being given a prize at Bunnyfest.  Each photo must come with your name, your telephone number and email address so we can contact you with questions.  See info below for submitting photos to the contest.

  • Bunny’s Favorite Pastime: What does your bunny like to do for fun? Play with toys? Pull all the books off your bookshelf? Watch TV? Catch a photo of your bunny doing what he likes to do best.
     

  • Extreme Ears: Does your bunny have extra long ears? Tiny ears? No ears? Funny-looking ears? Take a photo of those crazy ears and send it in!
     

  • Me & My Bunny: Share a photo of you with your bunny. (Or another person with your bunny is fine, too.)
     

  • Favorite Photo: Send us your favorite photo of your rabbit(s) that does not fit into any of the above categories.

Tickets are 50 cents each, per vote.  Winners will be announced at 3:30 p.m.

Shelter Rabbit Toys
Donate a new bunny toy at Bunnyfest and make a homeless rabbit happy! 

Suggested bunny toys include:

  • Untreated wicker baskets or boxes
  • Bunny Maze Balls (Petco), Carrot Toss Toys, and other bunny-specific toys
  • Cat toys: Batta balls, jingle bells and other hard plastic cat toys that can be rolled or tossed
  • Parrot toys that can be tossed, or hung from the top of the cage and chewed or hit
  • Baby toys: hard plastic toys like rattles and keys, things
    that can be tossed
  • "Busy Bunny" willow chew toys
  • Untreated sea grass or maize mats from Pier One or Cost Plus
  • Canning jar rings and shower curtain rings looped together.
  • Stuffed bunnies (that look similar to real bunnies) to act as temporary companions to lonely or ill bunnies while they await adoption

Can't make it to Bunnyfest but still want to donate shelter rabbit toys? Drop off toys at the HRS Bunny Supply Store.  Check our site for days and times.
